Mike Brody (Dennis Quaid) has left shark-infested Amity to take a job as a marine biologist at Florida’s newest theme park, Sea World. He is dating fellow marine biologist, Kathryn Morgan (Bess Armstrong). They help with the design of the park and to keep the animals healthy. The park is managed by Calvin Bouchard (Louis Gossett Jr.). Mike’s little brother, Sean Brody (John Putch), has come for a visit. When a baby great white shark mysteriously shows up inside the park’s large lagoon, Kathryn works to keep it alive and Calvin sees dollar signs. Mike, however, has a scary gut feeling that the shark’s mom might be in the lagoon as well. When the bodies start turning up, it is up to the Brody brothers to save the day.
